1 Dead Following Crash on South Dairy Ashford, Driver Taken Into Custody

Houston, Texas (Sept. 5, 2023) – 24-year-old Adrian James Martinez faces charges of failing to stop and render aid in a deadly crash.

The incident occurred near the 900 block of South Dairy Ashford. Martinez was driving a silver Honda Accord reportedly at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle. He struck a curb, causing him to change lanes and strike two nearby trees. The car was split into two halves due to the collision.

A passenger in the rear seat was ejected in the crash. According to reports, Martinez helped his girlfriend out of the vehicle before fleeing on foot to a nearby apartment complex.

One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, a second was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

Martinez’s family reportedly contacted HPD to inform them of his location. The 24-year-old admitted to fleeing the scene following the accident and was taken into custody.
