18-Wheeler Crashes, Driver Dies and Pedestrian Injured Houston, TX

Houston, TX (July 25, 2019) – A truck driver is dead and a pedestrian was seriously injured due to a medical episode that caused a freak accident.

The truck accident happened on Wednesday afternoon on the 2700 block of Magnet Street. The truck driver was accompanied by his wife in the passenger seat.

According to the Houston Police Department Lieutenant Thurston Roberson, the driver lost consciousness and control of the steering wheel when he struck a pedestrian standing behind a fence.

The pedestrian was on the job and suffered traumatic injury to his legs. He is expected to survive, but may have both legs amputated.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by Harris County.

There were no reports on the woman passenger.

Crash investigators will continue to review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in ten days.
