Amarillo, TX (12/16/2019) – A woman was killed after being involved in a two-vehicle wreck that occurred early afternoon Friday, December 13, in Amarillo.
The accident happened on US 87 when a Volkswagen Passat driven by 43-year-old Misti Ivins struck a Ford Explorer, driven by 23-year-old Ariel Spidell, from behind. The Explorer then crossed into the center median and rolled over.
Spidell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in the Explorer was transported to University Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Passat was not injured.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
