Bus Involved in Head-On Collision, Bus Occupants Injured

Live Oak County, TX (5/29/2020) – A bus on the way to Mexico from Houston was involved in a head-on collision Wednesday night in Live Oak County.

The accident happened just after 9:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 59 between George West and Freer. A Chevy passenger car headed north on 59 struck a bus, carrying 20 people, that was headed south after the Chevy crossed the centerline.

The driver of the Chevy was taken by HALO-Flight to a hospital in Corpus Christi. He remains in serious condition.

One passenger on the bus was taken to a hospital in Beeville by ambulance for her injuries. Other passengers on the bus were treated for minor injuries.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
