Car Crashes into Trucks, Causes Multiple Lane Closures in Houston

Houston, TX (7/12/2021) – A fatal truck crash left all main lanes of I-69 northbound closed in Fort Bend County.

The accident happened near Williams Way between a pickup truck, a tanker truck, and a car. The pickup truck and the tanker truck were disabled on the inside shoulder when a car swerved out of traffic and struck the 18-wheeler from behind. The car spun into the northbound lanes and then struck an SUV. 

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital downtown via helicopter in critical condition. 

Conditions of the other victims remain unknown. 

The 18-wheeler tanker was damaged in the crash and its gas may have to be offloaded on I-69/59, authorities said. HAZMAT was on the scene for cleanup.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
