Collision with Semi-Trailer Left One Man Dead in Wichita County

Wichita County, TX (7/10/2020) – A man is now dead after a deadly collision with a semi-trailer in Wichita County Tuesday night.

The accident happened on Highway 82 between FM 258 and Turkey Ranch Road around 10:04 p.m. when a semi-truck and a pickup truck driven by Jason Leigh Winkler, 42, were both headed east on Highway 82.

The semi-truck was traveling in the right lane and started to slow down to turn into a business. Winkler was driving behind the semi-truck and was not able to slow down when he struck the back of the semi-truck. Winkler’s pickup truck then caught fire and was burned completely.

Winkler was pronounced dead on the scene.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
