Dallas County, TX (3/21/2021) – An overnight crash left one woman dead and four others injured on Sunday.
The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20.
According to investigators, a teenage boy, 16, was driving a Nissan when he hit the back left of a Ford F-150. Both cars veered to the right and spun. The F-150 overturned down an embankment and landed upside down on its roof.
The driver of the truck, 50-year-old Miriam Valeriano, was killed at the scene.
Four occupants in the truck were taken to the hospital in stable condition: an 11-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, an 18-year-old, and a 37-year-old.
The 16-year-old fled the scene, but police detained him shortly afterward. He was taken to Henry Ward Juvenile Facility.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
