La Marque, Texas (March 19, 2023) – A man in his 70s was killed after being involved in a car accident with a Texas City Police vehicle.
The crash occurred at the intersection of FM 1764 and FM 2004. Police were responding to a call in the area when the unit and a Honda Fit struck each other.
The driver and passenger of the Honda Fit were both taken to nearby hospitals for injuries that occurred in the accident. The driver, an elderly man, was pronounced dead in the emergency room at HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland Medical Center.
The passenger in the Honda was transported to the trauma center at UTMB Health John Sealy Hospital.
A Texas City officer was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries following the crash and has since been released.
An investigation into the crash is being done by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Galveston District Attorney’s Office.
