Genoveva Hernandez Struck, Killed by 18-Wheeler in Odessa

Odessa, TX (5/7/2020) – A woman was killed Tuesday after being struck by an 18-wheeler.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on IH-20 near East Loop 338. A semi-truck, driven by 74-year-old Vicente Aguirre, was in the outside lane headed eastbound. A Nissan Sentra driven by 54-year-old Genoveva Hernandez was in the inside lane when she made an unsafe lane change and was then struck by the semi-truck.

Hernandez was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
