Gregg County, TX (4/27/2020) – An 18-wheeler is now submerged in water after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 Sunday.
The accident happened around 4:04 p.m. during a severe rainstorm. According to DPS, a Volvo truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer was headed west in the right lane of IH-20 approaching SH-31 while a Nissan Titan and a Ford F-350 were both in the left lane. The driver of the Volvo struck the concrete barrier on the north side of the road and then veered to the left, striking the Nissan and Ford. The Volvo then struck the concrete barrier on the south side of the roadway, went right through it, traveled down a steep embankment south of IH-20, and came to a rest underwater in a creek.
The driver of the Volvo, Yves Renard, 48, was pronounced at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, Lacedric Deontez Womack, 32, was transported to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in stable condition. A passenger in his vehicle, Johntavious Jaquinn Gray, 19 was not transported. Another passenger in that vehicle, Joseph Jezeria Evans, 19 of Houston was transported to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in stable condition.
The driver of the Ford, Chemere Brandiosha Powell, 28, of Marshall was not transported. A passenger in her vehicle,
Kevin Dell Jackson, 35, of Marshall was also not transported.
There is an ongoing investigation and police reports will be made available in ten days.
