AMARILLO, TX (April 26, 2019) – A three-vehicle collision due to a drunk driver left two people in critical condition in southwest Amarillo.
The car accident happened Thursday at 3:00 p.m. on the 4200 block of Hillside Road near Canyon Drive. According to Amarillo Police Department (APD), a Ford Focus driven by a 56-year-old Amarillo man was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Hillside. The driver hit a westbound Ford Explorer head-on, spun and struck a Honda SUV.
The Ford Explorer was driven by a 37-year-old woman. The Honda SUV was driven by an 18-year-old pregnant woman.
All three drivers were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two individuals remain in critical condition.
Authorities believe the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident and charges are pending.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in ten days.
