Henderson, TX (11/20/2019) – An Elm Street house is now in ruins after a vehicle crashed into a woman’s house and left her injured early Saturday morning.
According to Henderson Police, the accident happened around 2:40 a.m. in Henderson when an alleged drunk driver, Keith Shipp, was driving with another passenger when he lost control of his white SUV and crashed into a woman’s house while she was sleeping.
According to police, the house shifted partially off its concrete slab due to the force of the impact.
The woman was seriously injured and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Her daughter who was also home at the time of the incident remained unharmed.
Shipp has been charged with intoxication assault and DWI with injury.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
According to Texas law, an Intoxication Assault involves a person who commits an offense if the person, by accident or mistake, operates a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated, by reason of that intoxication causes serious bodily injury to another.
Serious bodily injury means an injury that creates a substantial risk of death or that causes serious permanent disfigurement or protracted loss or impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ.
Because the woman was left with serious injuries, and the driver is seen to be negligent while behind the wheel, it’s important to seek legal assistance who handles cases of negligence and intoxication assault.
