Livingston, TX (11/13/2019) – Two women are dead after an ATV accident occurred around 9 a.m. Monday morning just outside of Livingston.
The crash investigation reveals that the ATV, a Can-Am Commander, was traveling south when it drove off the roadway to the left and struck an embankment. It continued down south and then overturned.
The passenger, identified as 21-year-old Alyssa Fleming, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Charity Lara, was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital for her injuries.
Three additional passengers were also transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment for injuries. They were identified as Chrystal Sonnier, 29; Arturo Lara Jr., 38; and Jacob Hodge, 28.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 135,000 people are injured every year due to ATV, or all-terrain vehicle accidents and over 700 people die. Common causes of these accidents include reckless driving, drunk driving, and rollover accidents, such as the one above.
