The accident happened on U.S. 59 near the Jackson County line as two vehicles were both headed south. A Nissan SUV collided into the rear of a Ford F-250 after the Ford turned from a crossover onto the highway. The truck careened into a ditch and the Nissan came to a rest on the highway.

The passenger in the Nissan, 17-year-old Michael Collis, was flown to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, 21-year-old Heather Collis, and her infant son were injured in the wreck.

The driver of the pickup, 54-year-old John Bush, was also injured.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Medical expenses can be crippling, especially to those that have been in fatal accidents. Medical transportation costs are a part of the debt that can occur after visiting the hospital, and sometimes insurance can’t cover them. A claim can not only cover the expenses of the crash but also for any emergency medical transportation.
