Houston, TX (10/9/2021) – A child is in critical condition after a fatal accident with a drunk driver on Highway 59.

The accident happened at Chimney Rock around 3:55 p.m. Saturday afternoon. A Honda was weaving in and out of the southbound lanes of 59 before it struck an 18-wheeler, a red Mercedes, and then a box truck. 

A girl, 5, was ejected out of the vehicle when the driver hit the box truck. She remains in critical condition. 

A 4-year-old, and a 2-year-old were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

That driver was arrested and charged with intoxication assault.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
