Houston, TX (8/5/2021) – An elderly man is now dead after being involved in a fatal wreck on the Eastex Freeway.

Two Pedestrians Hospitalized after East Freeway Crash

The accident happened around 2 a.m. on US-59 inbound at Greens Road when a Ford F-150 driven by Cathy Ann Gilley, 51, slammed into a Chevy Trailblazer driven by a 75-year-old man carrying his three grandchildren.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gilley and her passenger were reportedly intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The three children – ages 8, 12 and 14 years old – suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. His family says he had just taken one of them to the hospital for chest pains.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Texas Car Accident Attorneys

According to Texas Law, Intoxication Manslaughter involves an intoxicated driver that causes the death of someone else while they are behind the wheel. Because an elderly man was killed and three children suffered injuries, and the driver was allegedly negligent while behind the wheel, it’s important to seek legal assistance who handles cases of negligence and intoxication.
