Two Injured after Fatal Accident Involving a Train and Car in Beaumont

Beaumont, TX (11/01/2019) – Two people are injured after colliding into a train around 8 p.m. Friday near the railroad tracks at Garner and Helbig.

According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle attempted to cross the tracks just as the train was approaching. The train ultimately hit the passenger side of the vehicle.

The passenger sustained serious injuries.

The driver was transported to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Accidents like the one above are just one out of thousands reported train-car collisions that occur yearly. According to the Federal Railroad Administration, there were over 2,000 railroad collisions in 2018. This is why it’s imperative to be aware of your surroundings when crossing railroad tracks.
