Orange Grove, TX (11/20/2019) – A 13-year-old girl and another male pedestrian were involved in a fatal crash that happened Tuesday morning.
The accident happened on FM 738 in Orange Grove when a Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling south hit the two pedestrians as they were walking on the side of the FM 738 southbound lane.
Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male pedestrian was reportedly not injured.
According to reports, the driver of the Silverado couldn’t see the pair due to the heavy fog that morning.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Inclement weather conditions are one of the many reasons drivers get involved in auto-accidents every year. From rain to ice to even fog, weather conditions can impair the senses of even the safest of drivers.
For the case above, fog impacts visibility distance, which is ultimately the reason why Gutierrez passed away. Although these cases only represent 3% of vehicular crashes, as told by FHWA, the results are as life-changing as accidents that are more common.
