fatal-crash-on-grand-parkwayHouston (February 28, 2019) – A brutal crash left one person dead and another person injured on the Grand Parkway in west Harris County.

The car accident occurred on Highway 99 north between Beckendorf and Freeman around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to authorities the two-car collision happened between a 34-year-old woman driving a 2015 Lexus RX 350 and 38-year-old man in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado.

The woman was ahead of the truck as both drivers were traveling northbound in the left lane of Highway 99. The woman drove off the road, hitting the plastic safety barricades causing her car to go airborne. The Lexus landed on top of the Silverado. The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threating injuries. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. Crash investigators are looking into what may have caused the accident.

A third vehicle had minor damage due to flying debris. Debris was scattered on the highway about a half-mile. All northbound lanes were closed for hours during the investigation.
