Harris County, TX (8/31/2020) – A hit-and-run wreck left one driver dead Monday morning in Harris County.

Woman Dead, Man Injured in Midland County

The incident occurred around 5:22 a.m. on W. Sam Houston Parkway North. A man identified as 50-year-old Dagoberto Pablo Monge was behind the wheel of a car when he crashed into the back of a white van. He then drove off without rendering aid.

The driver of the van succumbed to his injuries sustained from the accident.

Monge is now charged with failure to stop and render aid involving death. Monge is currently being held at the Harris County jail. His bond is set at $10,000.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Under Texas law, a hit-and-run accident is referred to as “leaving the scene.” These accidents involve any driver who knowingly hits a vehicle and intentionally drives off, failing to leave his or her contact information, call for help, or render aid.

It is important to have an experienced lawyer handling the case who understands hit-and-run accidents. An attorney can deal with insurance adjusters for you, negotiate settlements, and represent your best interests if a lawsuit is needed.
