Intoxicated Wrong-Way Driver on I-10 in Orange County

Orange County, TX (July, 17, 2019) – A 75-year old man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after driving in the wrong direction on I-10 in Orange County.

State Troopers responded to a report of a wrong-way driver on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of I-10 and Texas 62.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver traveled up the exit ramp and drove eastbound in the westbound traffic lanes sideswiping several vehicles.

An 18-wheeler swerved to miss the truck and collided with another vehicle. The wrong-way driver collided with the trailer portion of the wrecked 18-wheeler.

No serious injuries were reported.

State Troopers identified the wrong-way driver as 75-year-old Carlise Coy Simmons of Mauriceville, Texas. Mr. Simmons was taken to the hospital to be medically evaluated and was booked into the Orange County Jail.
