Sherman, TX (7/18/2020) – A church planter and pastor is now dead after trying to help out after a crash that happened Saturday night.
The accident happened on U.S. Highway 75 around 11:30 p.m. when two men stopped to help after a vehicle that rear-ended a truck pulling a trailer caught fire. As the two men stood on the highway, an 18-wheeler came by. Before the 18-wheeler could hit both of the men, John Powell, 38, pushed the other man out of the truck’s path.
John Powell did not survive.
The driver of the vehicle that caught fire was taken to a hospital.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Texas Truck Accident Attorneys
An investigation into this accident will prove essential due to the fact that a commercial truck drove into the path of the two men that were assisting a prior accident. The driver of the semi-truck that caused the accident, and the trucking company, may be liable for any damages brought forth upon the Good Samaritans and the family of John Powell is entitled to a wrongful death claim due to the truck driver’s actions.
The elements of liability, damages, and the ability to pay are critical in determining the value of a case or claim. Without all three elements, a case has little to no value given the nature of our legal system.
