Newton County, TX (2/28/2020) – A man is now dead and another man is injured after a collision involving two vehicles Tuesday night in Newton County.

The accident happened when 25-year-old Austin Lewis, headed in his Nissan pickup truck, crossed the center line and collided into a Nissan passenger vehicle driven by 37-year-old Kevin Dravenstott.

Dravenstott was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lewis was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Investigators are currently looking into what may have caused the Lewis to cross the center line. Because this accident involved a death, a substantial crash investigation will be conducted. This involves conducting interviews, contacting witnesses, and bringing in Accident Reconstructionists to recreate the collision. The investigation results will then reveal the cause of the negligent actions of Lewis.
