Salado, TX (4/8/2021) – A man was killed on the way to the hospital after being involved in a wreck with two 18-wheelers on Thursday.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on FM 2484 and Lark Trail in front of Salado High School. Michael Scott Schmidt, 63, was driving his BMW X3 sedan when he failed to control his speed and rear-ended a stopped Western Star 18-wheeler waiting to turn northbound. A second 18-wheeler was trailing the BMW and collided with the rear of a sedan after the sedan hit the first 18-wheeler.
Schmidt died en route to the hospital due to incapacitating injuries.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led to the accident, and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
