Newton, TX (12/3/2020) – A man was killed and two others were taken to the hospital after a wreck occurred Thursday morning.

The accident happened at the intersection of FM 2626 and Highway 87 when a Nissan car failed to stop at the stop sign and pulled into the path of a Dodge pickup.

Nissan driver William Hall, 68, was killed at the scene.

Hall’s passenger, 59-year-old Barney Simmons, was flown to St. Elizabeth hospital.

Mason Garcilazo, 27, was also taken to the hospital by helicopter.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Failing to yield at a stop sign is a violation of Texas roadway laws, and a clear indication of negligence. If someone commits an act of negligence, and it results in injury, the victim has a right to file a claim for personal injury. For the situation above, the two individuals injured have a right to file a personal injury claim against the driver of the Nissan due to their negligence and acts of running through a stop sign.
