18-Wheeler Accident Causes Hazmat Spill on I-69 in Porter

PORTER (October 2, 2018)– Monday afternoon an accident between two 18-wheelers created a hazmat spill on I-69 and FM 1314 backing up traffic for hours.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is unsure how the trucks collided. One truck was carrying diesel and the other carrying oil. The collision caused a hazmat spill on the northbound lanes of I-69. One truck was left with a gaping hole and the other truck was mangled metal.

Authorities shut down all northbound lanes, backing up traffic for at least eight miles. Hazmat crews were on the scene to clear the accident.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital in stable condition. There is an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the truck collision.
