One Dead, Another Person Fatally Injured in Midland Wreck

Midland, TX (2/5/2020) – A man is dead and another person is left injured after a fatal wreck in Midland.

The accident occurred Monday evening around 7 p.m. on Highway 349. Bernardo Natividad, 39, was headed north in his Nissan Titan when he lost control and collided into another vehicle in the opposite lane.

Natividad was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver in the second vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

The results of the investigation will deduce why exactly Natividad shifted into the southbound lanes instead of staying north in his own directed lane. Bringing in an Engine Control Module (ECM) will be vital to the investigation, since it will record whether or not Natividad made an attempt to stop his vehicle before drifting into the opposite lane. Usually for wrong-way collisions, lack of sleep, intoxication, or distracted driving are big influencers as to why these kinds of accidents occur.
