Orange, TX (8/21/2021) – A multi-vehicle wreck involving a semi-truck left two people injured Saturday afternoon.

Two People Dead in Fiery 18-wheeler Crash in Wichita County

The accident happened on I-10, a mile west of Orange around 3:20 p.m. when a semi-truck lost control and struck the rear of a Cadillac Escalade. The Escalade then hit a Chevrolet Silverado and the Silverado then hit a Ford F-350.

The driver of the Cadillac, 59-year-old James Nicholas, and the passenger in the Chevrolet, 67-year-old Janice Barras, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi, Chevrolet, and the Ford were not injured.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Pileup Accident Attorneys

Pileup accidents typically involve at least three vehicles, but sometimes more. A common scenario of this kind of accident happens when a vehicle fails to reduce speed and rear-ends a car stopped in traffic and pushes it into many other stopped cars, much like the situation above. Pileup collisions result in thousands in damages and many claims need to be filed with insurance companies.

For crash investigations involving 18-wheelers, ECM’s or Electronic Engine Modules will be brought in to examine how exactly the accident may have happened. ECM’s have the ability to record every facet of data that occurred while the driver was driving the tractor-trailer. From documenting brake time to monitoring idle speed control systems, ECM’s are proven to be vital evidence to every investigation.
