Austin, TX (2/17/2021) – The Austin Fire Department and Austin County EMS responded to a deadly fire around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday morning in Austin.

The incident happened at a residence on 2932 E. 12th St. Firefighters saw large smoke coming from the building with occupants still inside. They proceeded to search after getting reports that five adults reside at the address. They found three inside and one was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Two people were pronounced deceased on the scene. One remains in critical condition and three suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire has been extinguished. First responders found no indication of foul play at this time.

At the time of the fire, the power was believed to be out in the building. This case will be investigated, said the Austin Fire Department.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
