Waco, TX (9/12/2021) – Two men were killed in a fatal rollover wreck Sunday evening in Waco.

Rollover Wreck Leaves One Person Dead and Two Injured in Young County

The accident happened around 7 p.m. near W. Birch Street in Elm Mott on the I-35 South frontage road. A Chrysler 300 carrying three passengers struck a curb then went into a skid, causing the vehicle to roll several times.

Two passengers were fatally killed as a result of the collision. They were identified as 22-year-old Cirilo Mendez and 22-year-old Elmer Servin.

The driver of the vehicle and a third passenger were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Rollover Crashes

According to the NHTSA, rollover crashes are more likely to result in fatalities than any other types of crashes, and that most fatal rollover crashes are single vehicle crashes. This type of crash is ultimately due to excessive speeding, alcohol, and other negligent acts the driver may be at-fault for.

For the case above, not only was there a rollover crash, but two men were killed because of it.
