Carson County, TX (9/1/2021) – Two people were killed after a fatal wreck caused by inclement weather on Friday.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. when a Ford Fusion headed northbound on SH 207 lost control during rainy weather and struck a Honda Civic headed southbound. The Fusion entered a side skid, which caused it to hit the front end of the Civic.

The driver of the Fusion, 18-year-old Bailey Chisum, was killed at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, 47-year-old Suzie Hembree, was taken to the hospital via air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. She was also later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Inclement Weather Accidents

Unsafe weather conditions like snow, ice, fog, wind, dust, and other elements make it hazardous to drive on the roads, especially for truckers. According to the Federal Highway Administration, there are over 5,891,000 vehicle crashes each year and 21% of these crashes are weather-related. For the case above, a rainstorm led to the death of two people.
