Nacogdoches, TX (10/27/2020) – A person is dead after a crash occurred between two semi-trucks north of Garrison on Tuesday.
The accident happened on US 59 north around 7:15 a.m. A Kenworth truck towing a trailer was headed north in the outside lane and was slowing down to turn right into a private drive. At the same time, a Freightliner semi-truck towing a trailer was headed north and then struck the rear trailer of the Kenworth truck.
As a result of the collision, Freightliner driver, 65-year-old Salvador A. Oliva, was killed at the scene.
The driver of the Kenworth, 40-year-old Jessie Dale Cashion, and his co-driver 48-year-old Robert Allen Cain, were taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
