Lubbock, TX (1/3/2020) – A man and a woman are now hospitalized after a fatal crash occurred on east Loop 289 and 4th Street early Wednesday evening.
The crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. when 31-year-old Johnny Joe Hernandez Jr. and 29-year-old Salina Garcia were driving their truck northbound and ran through a stop sign. They then lost control, exited the roadway and drove up an embankment. The truck rolled back down and came to a rest on the left lane of the northbound access road.
Both Hernandez and Garcia were ejected from the truck.
They were transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the accident.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Personal injuries sustained in any accident can be fatal, but injuries sustained after being ejected from a vehicle can result in serious harm. For example, there may be neurological injuries, laceration, internal bleeding, and maybe paralysis.
These injuries are an unlikely consequence of an accident that wasn’t mean to occur in the first place and it can cost thousands in damages.
