Houston, TX (7/13/2020) – An older woman who spends her time feeding stray dogs is now dead after an intoxicated driver allegedly high on drugs, possibly PCP, struck the woman while she was on her bicycle.

The accident happened in a northeast Houston neighborhood on Saturday around 7:55 p.m. on John Ralston Road. Reports indicate a man allegedly lost control of his vehicle and hit the woman, 63, while on her bicycle. The car ended up in a drainage ditch. It appears the woman was on her way home from feeding stray dogs since dog food was found at the crash site.

The driver was identified as 33-year-old Maikon Tabarez and was taken to a local hospital. He was booked into the Harris County Jail on one count of intoxication manslaughter.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

According to Texas Law, Intoxication Manslaughter involves an intoxicated driver that causes the death of someone else while they are behind the wheel. Because a man was killed and children were injured, and the driver is seen to be negligent while behind the wheel, it’s important to seek legal assistance who handles cases of negligence and intoxication Manslaughter.
