One Dead, One Injured in Parmer County Wreck

Parmer County, TX (4/7/2020) – A two-vehicle wreck in Parmer County left one dead and another person injured on Friday, April 3.

The accident happened around 9:45 a.m. at U.S. Highway 60 and FM 1381 near Bovina. According to DPS, a semi-truck was headed east on U.S. 60 and a pickup truck was stopped at a stop sign at FM 1381. When the pickup truck turned left onto the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60, the semi-truck came by and struck the pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck, 33-year-old Bessy Estrada Lainez, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A passenger in the pickup truck, identified as Vincente Oropeza-Diaz, 33, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in Friona.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
