Houston, TX (1/13/2020) – A pedestrian was hit and another was injured after a hit-and-run crash occurred while changing their tire on an Eastex Freeway feeder road early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred around 3 a.m. near Gaston Street in the 11500 block of Eastex Freeway when two pedestrians were hit by an SUV while they were changing their vehicle’s tire.
A male pedestrian identified as Zachary Johnson, 38, was killed at the scene.
A female pedestrian was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
The driver of the SUV suffered no major injuries. She failed to stop and render aid, according to officials.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
