The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. when Juan Francisco Esparza tried to cross the intersection of Avenue K and Avenue J when a Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 43-year-old man did not see the man due to “environmental obstructions” and struck Esparza.
Esparza was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Pedestrian Accidents
Inclement weather conditions are one of the many reasons drivers get involved in auto-accidents every year. From rain to ice to even fog, weather conditions can impair the senses of even the safest of drivers. For the case above, it was possible the sun’s glare impaired the pickup truck driver’s vision. Impaired vision is an unlikely consequence due to weather conditions while on the road.
