San Antonio, TX (11/18/2019) – One person is now injured after rear-ending a North East Independent School District bus early Monday morning near Battle Oak and Huebner Road in San Antonio, Texas.
The NEISD school bus was pulling out of a neighborhood on its morning route when the car behind attempted to go around, police say. The car then crashed into the rear of the bus, and injured the driver of the car.
The driver of the car was put in an ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital.
The children on the bus reportedly sustained no injuries.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
According to NTSB, almost half of all two-vehicle crashes were rear-end crashes between 2012 and 2014. In addition, these crashes killed more than 1,700 people each year.
Furthermore, these kinds of crashes are ultimately a consequence of distracted driving or following too close behind a vehicle, as reported by the NHTSA.
