Mathis, TX (1/23/2021) – A two-vehicle wreck left six people dead and three hospitalized in San Patricio County.
The accident happened at 3:33 a.m. on IH-37. A Toyota Camry carrying four occupants was headed south in the northbound lane on IH-37 while a Dodge Grand Caravan carrying five occupants were headed north. The Toyota struck the Dodge head-on.
One passenger was ejected from the vehicle.
Five people were pronounced dead at the scene. Four were underage teenagers and one was identified as Ruben Gonzalez Jr., 24.
Four people were taken to Spohn Shoreline in Corpus Christi. A female teenager, 18, was later pronounced dead Saturday evening at Spohn Shoreline.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
