Johnston County, OK (5/6/2020) – A man from Texas was injured after being involved in a collision with a train Tuesday morning.
The collision happened around 10:13 a.m. when 71-year-old James Hill was headed southbound on Kelly Road at BNSF railroad tracks in his semi-truck.
He failed to yield to an oncoming train and was struck. His truck was pushed down the tracks for about half a mile.
According to reports from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the diesel tanks on the semi-truck ruptured during the collision, causing the tracks and truck to catch on fire.
Hill was pinned in the truck and then taken to the hospital with arm, leg and internal injuries.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
