Two Pedestrians Struck on Side of the Road in Polk

Polk, TX (11/12/2019) – One pedestrian is dead and another injured after getting hit by a vehicle in Polk County early Monday morning.

At around 8:40 a.m., a GMC pickup truck was traveling west and drove over onto the shoulder when it struck a Ford pickup that was disabled on the shoulder. The GMC truck then struck two pedestrians that were working on the disabled Ford pickup.

Jonathon Reid, 35, was killed at the scene.

The second pedestrian, Carl Reid Jr., 65, was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital for his injuries.

The driver of the GMC, 22-year-old Karl Fink, was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital, as well.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
