San Augustine County, TX (3/23/2021) – A woman was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday evening.
The accident happened on SH 103 at FM 1277 around 5:45 p.m. A 2016 Kia passenger car going north on FM 1277 failed to yield the right-of-way and drove into the path of a GMC SUV headed east on SH 103.
The accident caused an 18-wheeler to crash in an attempt to avoid the wreckage. No injuries were sustained as a result.
The driver of the Kia, 18-year-old Lacy Reynolds, was killed at the scene. A passenger in the Kia was taken to a Tyler hospital via medical helicopter.
The driver of the GMC, Joe Worry, 37, was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin for treatment.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Driving with Negligence
Negligent driving is wholly apparent in the situation above. Failing to yield for traffic is a blatant traffic violation and almost always leads to accidents. The Kia driver failed to yield to the SUV, and a collision occurred, causing the death of a woman and two people injured.
