Early Friday morning, an 18-wheeler carrying a load of produce caught fire on the Southwest Freeway.
The incident occurred Friday at 1:00 a.m., as the driver was traveling east on Interstate 69 near the West Loop 610. The fire started in the truck’s rear brakes. The driver pulled over and attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher.
The Houston Fire Department extinguished the flames before they could consume the trailer. The trailer was carrying produce, but the jalapenos were the only produce that was burned in the truck. There were no injuries reported.
