20-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fatal Car Accident near Amarillo

Amarillo, Texas (March 7, 2023) – A fatal car accident on I-40 claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman early Monday morning.

Officials from the Department of Public Safety have identified Madison Mangum, a 20-year-old from Borger, as the victim of the accident.

Mangum’s pickup became disabled along the centerline of westbound I-40 after rear-ending a rental truck. A large tractor truck that was pulling a load of 3 other truck tractors then struck Mangum’s vehicle as she was in the roadway. 

The driver of the truck struck her passenger side. The collision ejected Mangum from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The other driver was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital and has since been released.
