A 5-Car Accident Puts Woman in Coma in North Houston

Houston, TX (September 29, 2019) – A driver that was high at the time caused a five-car collision in north Houston.

The car accident happened Thursday around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of the North Freeway feeder and Cypresswood Drive.

According to authorities, 24-year-old Jahson Albert was traveling at a high rate of speed when he hit three vehicles, left the road, hit two traffic islands, went airborne and landed on top of a fourth vehicle.

Three people were transported to local hospitals.

A fourth person, Jackie Pleytez, 19, was sitting at a red light when Mr. Albert’s car landed on top of her vehicle. Ms. Pleytez was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight. She has brain damage and remains in a coma. 

Mr. Albert suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. His lab work shows he was under the influence of marijuana during the collision.

Mr. Albert has been charged with felony reckless aggravated assault. His bond was set at $30,000.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the wreck and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
