Hale County, TX (4/7/2020) – A vehicle-pedestrian wreck in Hale County killed a young man early Monday morning.
The accident happened around 6:20 a.m. on FM 400 when Alvaro Cedillo, 18, attempted to cross the north side of FM 400 just as a pickup truck driven by 64-year-old Encarnasio Reyna was headed eastbound on FM 400. Reyna didn’t see Cedillo and struck him.
Cedillo was transported to Covenant Hospital in Plainview, where he later died.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Pedestrians are at a disadvantage when it comes to personal safety on the streets of Texas. Motorists frequently fail to see pedestrians on or alongside busy roads, and it only takes a second for a serious accident to occur. These accidents can result in thousands in medical expenses, lost wages, and even pain and suffering.
