Child Killed after Hit-and-Run Wreck in Dalhart

Dalhart, TX (8/4/2021) – A child is now dead after getting hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 3:45 a.m. when two 13-year-old girls were on E. 1st Street. A dark-colored SUV headed eastbound struck both of the teenagers. 

One girl was dragged for more than 200 feet. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second girl suffered minor injuries.

The SUV fled the scene.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
