Houston, TX (2/3/2020) – A man will be charged with felony murder after his fourth DWI led to a fatal crash in northwest Houston.
The car accident happened Sunday around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of Bammel North Houston Road and Champion Forest Drive. Jeffery Davis was traveling in a Ford F-150 heading north on Bammel North Houston when Eduardo Tovias was heading southbound on Bammel and had the right of way. According to authorities, Mr. Davis failed to yield the right of way while making an effort to turn left on a flashing yellow light.
Mr. Tovias was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. Davis, 57, showed signs of intoxication and was transported to a hospital for his injuries. This is Davis’ fourth DWI with the charge of felony murder due to the crash. Davis is facing a minimum of five years and a maximum of life in prison.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in ten days.
