Driver Killed after Car Runs Red Light in San Antonio

San Antonio, TX (9/4/2021) – A driver was fatally killed after a red-light-runner crashed into him over the weekend.

The accident happened around 1:16 a.m. on S. Zarzamora Street and W. Southcross Blvd on the South Side of San Antonio. A white pickup truck was headed northbound through a green light when a Dodge headed westbound disregarded a red light and struck the pickup truck. The truck then struck a utility pole. 

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the Dodge, 24-year-old Pedro Guadarrama Pedroza, and a passenger were taken to University Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was later arrested without incident.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
