Anderson County, TX (9/28/2021) – One person was killed after a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened around 4:13 p.m. on FM 1817 when a Dodge Ram failed to yield the right-of-way to a Honda while turning into a private drive. The Honda and the Ram collided with each other.
The driver of the Honda, 44-year-old Eric Scarborough, was sent to the hospital where he later died.
The driver of the Dodge was identified as 30-year-old Aaron Mata of Elkhart. His condition remains unknown.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Failure to Yield Accidents
Failure to yield is among the leading causes of roadway accidents in Texas. Some drivers simply fail to give their full attention while driving, and others consider themselves above the law. Regardless of why the failure occurred, everyone is obligated to yield the right-of-way by following official traffic signs and signals and adhering to the rules of the road.
Due to the nature of this accident, and the fact that a failure to yield led to the death of a driver and the injuries of another driver, a crash investigation will be conducted. This includes collecting reports, conducting interviews, and obtaining evidence for negligent driving.
